The first single from Jeremih’s 3rd studio album Late Nights is a club anthem that dominated the charts through the summer and fall 2014. Jeremih told Billboard that he was inspired to write his own #1 single after “Show Me” – a song he co-wrote – went #1 on the Rap Airways.
Despite this song’s success, there’s no music video to go with. Jeremih takes the blame for that; he admitted to Billboard that a video was scheduled but he didn’t show up for the shoot. He neglected to explain why.
The song samples vocals from the classic Euro-dance record “Rhythm is a Dancer”“ which DJ Mustard, Jeremih & YG flip into a R&B/Hip-Hop club smash.
Several remixes and covers of the song have since been released including an official remix, a UK remix and Pop singer Lorde performed a cover version for the BBC 1 Radio 1 Live Lounge.
Jeremih explained the making of the song on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, revealing that he offered the song to 2 Chainz but decided to work with YG when Chainz asked too much for a verse.
