SC3k and SC4 soundtracks are timeless and classy AF. They're simply the best when you need to focus the brain. Current favorite is Floating Population.

If anyone knows any music similar to The Sims piano Build Modes please do share? I've never found anything quite like it and I love that stuff so much. Buy Mode music is amazing too, whatever it is, bossa nova swing or something. I want to find more music like this stuff but can't quite seem to.

Hey Regular_Mike, It's been quite a journey for me too. Searching for music similar to the build mode piano pieces has proved to be challenging but fun as well. Have you ever heard of Chris Conway? He has a few piano albums that, to me, are very reminiscent of style and composition. Check out the albums "Piano Natural" and "Glisten - solo piano". Here's one of my favorites; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhcUUNs04Vc I created a Spotify playlist that includes pieces from those two albums, but the search for more continues: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/43FdwlOWG6WEmGTdbvjXDy?si=IHkOkKkvQJGr8SpSiWDFvA Have you found anything since the last 2 years of your post? Also, thanks benxander for expanding on the conversation. I checked out John R. Burr and was really pleased. Happy music hunting to you all!

Nice to see this thread is still going - thanks for all the recommendations! Happy to hear you like it! I agree, Akira Kosemura has some nice piano works too - definitely more ambient but great nonetheless. I love that article - I also stumbled upon it while researching for similar music to the Build Modes. I grew up on a few artists from Windham Hill Records and definitely agree that there are crossover influences there.

There are some solo piano works on my playlist that I enjoy but I feel are slightly too much in the foreground. The Build Mode "vibe" seems to exist somewhere in between the foreground and the background - enough to concentrate on the melodies but also enough to just enjoy in the background. Definitely challenging to match, but fun all the same!

I love the SimCity 3000 soundtrack. It's like, *good* music I would actually want to listen to. I'm so surprised how good it is every time it comes up on shuffle. It could be psychological, though, having to do with the countless hours I spent playing the game...

E-mailed him asking what the title of "buy4" is on The Sims. No response. T_T

It doesn't sound like Jerry Martin is composing the music for the upcoming SimCity game in 2013, which is a little disappointing. The incredible soundtracks from SC3k and SC4 really defined the personality of those games, and they're still amazing to listen to today.

To follow up on my last post here, I was chuffed to get a surprise response back in December, in which Jerry confirmed he never named Build 4, Buy 4, or Latin 7. "The reason some of the tunes have titles and some don't is that I was going to do a soundtrack CD and named the ones I thought would be on it. I never did it anyway though."

I emailed Jerry 3 years ago, and he said Marc Russo wrote build4, ie. "If You Really See Eurydice". "Thanks for your email. I'm glad you like the music! build #5 is called "Now What" I'm not sure what we called #4 since this was written by my associate, Marc Russo." jyfi if you want correct tags.
