Biography
While living on a farm her whole life, Jessica started her music career with piano, playing at the young age of 6. She attended lessons every week at her neighbor’s home, and spent her summers selling sweet corn to the locals on the side of the road. She lost her interest with piano when she started high school and was convinced that her musical career would be tucked away in the shower, or humming down old dirt roads. After high school, she lived in Brazil for one year and got a first taste of singing in front of an audience –in Portuguese even!- for the first time. When she returned back to Canada, she enrolled in College to pursue a new dream of documentary filmmaking, to show the world what she has seen through the lens of a camera.
That September of 2008 changed her life, for the better! As there was no television in her lonely house, the only thing she had to occupy her time was the Internet and YouTube. She stumbled upon song covers and became inspired to learn guitar herself. With the help of YouTube tutorials and a strict regime of practicing everyday for 3 hours, she was comfortable behind the guitar in no time. She advanced quite quickly and began writing her own songs only 4 months later, with her first written song called "Goodmorning Sun". Poetic and imaginable, she sings “the day passes by so slow, when you’re gone and I’m gone, time wanders like a ghost, it lingers so calm,” taking you to a paradise far from reality.
After spending 2 years in College, she decided to see the world again and traveled to South Africa to work for a few short months. In September 2010 she returned again, and is now studying Advanced Filmmaking at Fanshawe for a third and final year. She is still currently making YouTube videos, and has finally finished her first album to be released in the fall of 2010. Jessica will be the umbrella to your rainy day. Her foremost mission in life is to “Change the World” for the better, and that she will, with her soulful sounds and truthful lyrics of each and every song set free.
