Imagine being half as good at anything as Blind Joe Death is at playing this song

the amount of times this song has made me stare wistfully at a computer screen with my right hand firmly attached to my chin as if i'm cycling through every important milestone of my life in my mind... well, it's only happened 4-5 times but it feels like i do it all the time.

...tears me up too. Bizarre. To me- it seems to say... it's not just that you are walking dust and you will be forgotten and passed over as if you never were. But also: everything you've ever seen and loved; every book, every sunset, every piece of music- all this will also be forgotten and passed over, as if it never was. And everyone you've loved- the same for them and everthing they love. And yet somehow, the song smiles and winks and says- that's as it should be. As it always has been. As it will be, always. Brian Eno's "By this River," Has the same effect. There's more there, these songs nothing if not rich fertile nexuses, but that comes to mind everytime I hear it.

This song demonstrates how powerful a simple folk song can be. I agree with the birkenwald. It brings me to tears every time.
