Biography

Jossette was born in February 3, 1979 in Redwood City, California of Hispanic and Portuguese descent. Her hobbies include playing the piano, exercising and of course singing. Jossette has been involved with music and dance ever since the age of five. At a young age her parents had enrolled her for piano lessons, tap classes, and gymnastics. Jossette later began to utilize her skills and talents in high school, where she became an active member of Notre Dame’s chorus, chamber chorale, and the Tri-Music Honor Society.

In the summer of 1996, Galaxy Freestyle Records got a hold of her vocal talents from a videotape they had. The label later called her in for an audition and on that same day she began working on the hit song, "In A Dream." Much to Jossette’s surprise, the song was a great success. Her debut hit has lead to performances nation wide as well as in parts of Latin America. Radio and music lovers supported the dance hit, which eventually landed Jossette her own spot as a host for her own show on the Bay Area’s hit station, KYLD (then Wild 107.7 and now Wild 94.9).

But of course, with most successes, comes drama… (Very) Shortly after the release of Jossette’s "In A Dream" another artist by the name of Rockell had re-recorded and released the very same song, causing a much-heated debate in the Freestyle community. The two versions sounded almost exactly alike with the slight difference in the vocal styles, which caused confusion to some as to who the real artist behind the hit was. What very many people don’t know about the track was that Jossette wasn’t the original artist to have recorded the song. The group Emotion In Motion recorded the original version back when Bernadette was a part of the line up. Bernadette by the way, is the one who gave us the fierce Freestyle track, "You Are The One" which was released under Classified Records (former home of Jocelyn Enriquez and M:G). Needless to say, Jossette’s career took a slight blow from the latter version of the hit single. But despite it all, Jossette went on with her musical career and later followed up her first hit with the tracks "Where Are You Now," "No More Lies", "Feels Good" and "So Excited."
