Jozef Kapustka was born in Poland in 1969 and began his musical studies at the age of 3. Meeting Sviatoslav Richter shortly thereafter has set his vocation eversince.Upon graduating from New York Juilliard School in 1992 he has completed a Postgraduate Advanced Studies diploma at the Royal Academy of Music in London having worked subsequently with Dmitri Baskirov in Madrid and legendary Vera Gornostaeva in Moscow, eventually settled down to live in Paris. Very early Kapustka started to appear in most of New York's world class premises such as Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum, United Nations, jointly with Tamami Honma, Japan at the Carnegie Hall ("magical,amazing experience" as seen in "The New York Times") and has been featured on Voice of America International and New York classical radio WQXR live radio broadcasts, hailed as "one of the most interesting radio programmings on the air" by opinionated New York Village Voice. Furthermore he has been featured on France Musique and Europe1 broadcasts. Subsequently his concert career has taken him to Italy with Sicily, Greece and Creta, Malte, Spain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Ukraine, Germany ("a great introverted pianist"-Nurnberger Zeitung), Switzerland, France ("a particularly beautiful concert"-Radio France International), French Polynesia withTahiti, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Lithuania, Russia, Turkey, Lybia, Egypte, Jordania, Bresil and USA with Hawaii. At times he would also display a surprisingly ecclectic taste collaborating with French leading stage directors Roger Louret while acting out his own character to a sound critical acclaim ("what a talent! a true juke-box! ask the piece, he plays it"- Depeche du midi) and Jean Christian Grinevald for the world's largest theater festival in Avignon,France. Kapustka is a winner of numerous prizes and awards, among those 1994 Grand Prix of the Paris International Conservatory, Olga Samaroff Prize in Piano (USA) laureate of Albeniz Foundation, Madrid; Johnson Foundation, Princeton etc. Sought after accompanist he has worked with Mariinsky, Bolchoi and Paris National opera soloists Mzia Nioradze, Irina Tchistiakova, Mikhail Petrenko,Sergei Stilmachenko, Irina Tiviane. A highly respected American critic and writer, David Dubal ("Remembering Horowitz") has once called Kapustka a " great pianist who loves his art" . His solo or joint performances are unvariably and unanimously met by public and critical acclaim, as seen recently: "…a high voltage stuntman,inspired and talentuous. Excellentissime evening,huge bravo!" His all-Chopin recitals, a part of 2010 Chopin year celebration in France was " a cultural event of the year 2010" in the French department of La Sarthe. Nominated for the most prestigious French theater award "Molière 2010" in the category "Best musical play". In 2010 also he has initiated together with Marcio Selles and Martin Voll a "Bach in Rio" project consisting of performing and recording Bach keyboard concerti.
