For those who are tired of the three main hits of this record, I really enjoy "You Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise". :) Give it a shot!

Ah yes, if it has a catchy hook and is an actually enjoyable experience, it's dumbed down and has no real substance. You're a pretentious clown.

Totally agreed, The Rage bangs hard, Metal Gods is a fun song, but almost everything else is kinda 'meh'

As much as I praise 70's Priest and Painkiller, it remains my favorite Priest album. I like how this album is catchy and fun to listen.

Doesn't quite stack up to the few that came before it -- kind of a diluted, poppy sound compared to the technique and heaviness they'd displayed previously -- but still an iconic album with a couple of their best known classics and some other good tunes.

yeah my fav turbo track isn't even on the original, but All Fired Up from the shitty rerelease. Hard as Iron is a definite jam.

One of my favorite Priest albums, in my top 5 with Screaming for Vengeance, Stained Class, Sin After Sin and Defenders of the Faith. "The Rage" is probably my favorite song on here, and one of my all-time favorite Priest songs. The UK track listing is much better. I don't like how the US version just copy and pasted Breaking the Law into the top spot, it doesn't help the flow of the album at all. "Rapid Fire" is one of Priest's best album openers.

Far from my favorite Priest album, but it is indisputably a "classic heavy metal" album that I still enjoy listening to.

Surprisingly disappointing album. 'Breaking the Law' deserves the status is has as Priest's most popular track, but the rest of this? 'Metal Gods' sounds like a poor version of Sabbath's 'Heaven and Hell' from the same year, 'Living After Midnight' sounds like AC/DC, but not as groovy and the party factor on some of these tracks does not really fit the band that shines in more energetic metal exercises IMO. Not sure where to go next in my revisit of Priest albums, before BS there were Sin after Sin and after BS Screaming for Vengeance. Both look more promising from the tracks I know.

In 1980, the musical landscape was going through some big changes. Punk rock and disco were considered dead, and new wave music was gaining popularity. However, in the U.K., a new musical scene was emerging: heavy metal. Many bands came out in this time period including Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Diamond Head, Angel Witch, Witchfinder General, and of course Judas Priest. Now, the band had been around for years, but this was when they started gaining more mainstream recognition. In fact, many people credit Judas Priest for influencing the whole British metal scene. On this album, the band went for a more commercial sound that was hinted at on their previous album, Hell Bent for Leather However, the band still manages to keep their trademark ass-kicking sound.
