I can only see it on their first album. But even then I wouldn't say it's a clone like everybody else seems to think. Slint had what...3 loud/heavy songs on Spiderland? Where as June tends to get at it way harder. After the first one I wouldn't say there's any comparison at all. Honestly I'm sure its a lot of people not even listening to full albums and just jumping on the band wagon.

I mean yea sure, but if you wanna look at it like that, the entirety of every genre is full blown worship of whatever came before it. Because that's how music works and how things evolve....

Have you got June Of 44`s – Engine Takes To The Water Library Edition and lookin' for a trade? Get in touch, we'll shape a nice deal for the both of us (exchanging records; I am also willing to pay a decent price!) Thanks

"The first two albums were pretty decent attempts to revive Rodan, but 4GP and Anahata.... on par with Rodan. Of course, stylistically very different. Also, look at stuff like Rachel's, Shipping News etc. It just leaves us to wonder what Rodan might have become had they not split for unknown reasons." Slint had The For Carnation/Tortoise/King Kong, Bastro had Gastr del Sol. These Louisville kids were on something special.

in the June of 1944, D-Day occurred as well as the beginning of the Holocaust. Just food for thought.

Actually, Yikko's link is pretty sick - awesome band he posted. Love Jo44, but as someone who was too young to see them live, I agree with his sentiment.

@jamesismynamo "The band's name was inspired by a variety of factors, chiefly the date of correspondence between erotic fiction writers Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin; the month also coincided with the birth of Mueller's mother and the military service of Meadows' grandfather." - http://www.allmusic.com/artist/june-of-44-p168496/biography

I just don't get the Slint comparisons. Later Jo44 albums move into dubby, jazzy sounds while the earlier ones seem like a natural progression from and combination of the long-form approaches to hardcore taken by Rodan and Hoover. There is Slint insofar as they care about dynamics and texture, but that is not enough to say that Jo44 are just Slint copycats (albeit good ones). Codeine cared about all that stuff too.

Many bands have been great. Few of them as great as June of 44. I'm hopeful that one day they will reunite and play ATP.
