Biography
KAMON!!! is a high-voltage electro music duo from Ukraine. The band was founded in November 2007 in Kyiv by two sisters Alissa and Ksusha Kosmos who are responsible for both sound and visual.
Deeply imbued by the electroclash from such artists as Peaches,CSS, Le Tigre, Yeah Yeah Yeahs the sisters saw no opportunity other than to start making their own music of this kind. Deriving inspiration from the kinky aesthetics of the 80’s, from the obscure lech and vicious sexuality of David LaChapelle’s photography, from oddities of Alice in Wonderland (as well as from TV-translations of the Olympic Games in Beijing), the sisters created their own freaky style which they themselves supposed to be 'cyberpop’. The band’s name is a mutilated form of an English whoop “come on!” spelled in a Ukrainian way. As such a flamboyant duet the sisters soon caught the eye of Ukraine’s major recording label "Lavina music" and were straight away offered a contract.
It all resulted in their first single + video Каблы, KAMON!!! (lit. “Come on, High-Heels!”) which appeared on the Internet in November 2008 and soon turned out to be a smash-hit. Idiosyncratic lyrics + haunting electro beats + vivid lunatic video’s = KAMON!!! soon becomes an all Ukrainian sensation. In June 2009 they shot their second video Брюнетка (“brunette”) which gained the same popularity among Russian-speaking users of the Internet. Now KAMON!!! is preparing their first studio-release.
