A real change of pace for Karnivool. This album is heavier and much less vocal based than sound awake with Ian Kenny lowered in the mix. Many walls of sound and devastating crescendos set this album apart from its predecessors. Moving Away from the Alt rock sound seen in themata and sound awake, this is a pure heavy prog album. A very original release its influences are great in number but hard to spot this could help explain its many changing forms.
This album will appeal to listeners of Katatonia, Tool. Rishloo, The Mars Volta, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Steven Wilson, any of the Australian prog outfits and most heavy prog outfits.
