When an artiste begins to exceed expectations, it’s only natural for his or her name to be whispered in the classrooms, halls and board meetings. A landmark is about to be made and a milestone is fast approaching for the Singapore music industry.
Never before has the “Lion City” met an original artiste and entertainer with such enthusiasm and ability to change the perception of local music from the ground up.
Kevin Lester, 28, is a rap artiste, songwriter and producer. And ELLE’s Music Act of the Year 2011.
Kevin’s debut album, “Let’s Talk About Kevin Lester”, was released 15th November 2010. It was made available online for free download at his website, www.thelioncityboy.com. It features 8 original songs produced by an award-winning group of producers from Bedsty Music, Kevin Lester himself, and an up-and-coming producer The Architek.
Since its release, it has garnered high rotation and rave reviews by critics in Singapore and internationally. UK’s The Guardian picked Rockstar 2.0, the first official radio single from the album, as its top 35 songs from around the world for January 2011. Kevin’s next single Kidhood saw remixes from veteran dance producers, “Thangka Satellites” & DJ Ko Flow.
Kevin Lester lent his cool and music to brands like MINI, Nixon and OBEY. He was also chosen to represent Cisco’s Flip facebook profile video app, which was featured on Mashable with Fresh Pair serving as the cool soundtrack for the international online campaign!
In 2012, he travelled to MIDEM with SIXX, a 9 piece hip hop band that he fronts, where he released their debut single “Supersonic” during MIDEM off Festival to rousing reviews!
