Kim Myhr is a musician and composer in the field of contemporary and improvised music. He studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston from 2003 to 2005 and has since then embarked on an international career as an improviser with performances throughout Europe, Australia, Japan, Canada and the United States. His projects these days include Mural, with Australian musician Jim Denley and fellow Norwegian Ingar Zach, Silencers with pianist Benoit Delbecq as well as a duo with French electronic musician Sebastien Roux. He has also collaborated with Anthony Pateras, Robbie Avenaim, Toshi Nakamura, Tetuzi Akiyama and Christian Wallumrød to mention a few. Myhr is also the organizer of Fri Resonans, a festival for improvised and new music in Trondheim, Norway.

The consideration of nothing is important in his music: to take no existing element for granted and to build music from nothing and with simple building blocks. In other words, Myhr sees the importance of questioning the very foundation of his thinking about music. Deconstructing it, then constructing. Why is there music, and not nothing?

In 2008, Myhr received the JazZtipend at the Molde Jazz festival, the largest jazz-price in Norway. For this, he will return to Molde in 2009 with a new piece for large ensemble featuring Sidsel Endresen, Christian Wallumrød, Jim Denley, Clare Cooper, Ingar Zach and many others.
