KINGS OF THE CITY was a London based band known for mixing blues rock ‘n’ roll, hip hop and grime. As much as 8 years difference in age between the band members, their eclectic musical tastes and their diverse cultural and social backgrounds, all contributed to the bands unique sound.
The collective consisted of members: Ali Bla Bla (rapper / producer), KoKen (rapper), Danny Wilder (lead singer / guitars / rapper), Rich Pun (guitars), Memari Man (bass), 8 Bit (synths / co-producer) and Royal (drums).
As the band started gaining mainstream publicity, tragedy struck with Danny wilder being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. During his year long battle Danny was determined to keep making music, and so the band continued to record a complete album (No Snake) before Danny was no longer able to visit the studio. Danny Wilder died on 3 October 2013, at the age of 27.
The band (Ali Bla Bla) released this statement via their Facebook page: "For the first time in my life, I am lost for words. Our brother, friend, leader, singer, guitarist, front man and all around boss, Danny Wilder, passed away yesterday morning. The world will never be the same again. Our respect and deepest sorrows are with his family and loved ones."
