Biography

    15 September 1987 (age 36)

Kinjac is the eclectic electro solo-project of musician/producer Michael O’Shea, a native of Asheville, NC (home of Moog synthesizers). Kinjac licentiously mixes and manipulates his prolific discography live to create an instrumental, danceable sonic experience best described as an eclectro-hop DJ show.

In their live review cover story, Magazine33 writes, “Kinjac produces music that alternates seamlessly from electronic rock to something resembling underground hip-hop without ever fully falling into either genre… The energy Kinjac creates is infectious and undeniable—filling every corner of the room and demanding the undivided attention of all in attendance.”

Kinjac has opened for artists like Saul Williams, Thavius Beck, Eprhyme, K-the-I???, CJ Boyd, and O’Death with his trademark blend of digital and organic elements that finds similarities in acts like Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Prodigy, Caribou, Muse, Amon Tobin, RJD2, Pretty Lights, etc.

As a producer, Michael O’Shea has production credits on releases by K Records, Joyful Noise Records, SCI Fidelity Records, and every Solotechne Records release with artists like Eprhyme, C.J. Boyd, and Ali Baba’s Tahini (an Umphrey’s McGee side project). In the past few years he has released 9 solo albums, started a record label and studio in Asheville, toured as the drummer for the afrobeat band Afromotive while writing the thesis for his philosophy degree, and had an unusual relationship with a Swedish girl that led him to temporarily move to Stockholm (where much of his albums No. 7 and Incandescent were written and recorded).
