Guitarists obsess endlessly over finding their tone. L7 had theirs locked in from the get go & they remain one of a relatively small handful of bands that you could pick out just from hearing them buzzsaw one powerchord.

the production on bricks... makes the album near unlistenable for me. vig neutered the band (same as with nirvana). albums either side of this, smell the magic and hungry for stink are far superior IMHO (as is bleach and in utero)

Damn L7 had a distinctive sound. The vocals, the guitar, that pissed off attitude. It’s one hell of an addictive combo. The music has held up great too, all these years down the road.
