La Dispute accomplishes so much with their music. Each song is pure emotion and energy, like those of The Chariot; full of complexity in both lyrical and musical content, like the ever-influential Circle Takes the Square. "Said the King to the River" is no exception. Their storytelling capacity is heightened by interludes and pauses at just the right times, drawing each song out into an animated landscape.
Their musical stylings harken back to a time when music was more than money or fans - back when music meant something and every word was taken into consideration, every note had an effect. La Dispute is a reincarnation of the real screamo and emo/emo-violence of the 90's, and that is why they are so valuable to the scene of this musical generation.
