“Goddess” explores Laufey’s experience in a relationship with someone who is more in love with her image as an artist than her as a person. The song features themes of fame, idolization, and wanting to be seen as human, along with heartbreak and anger.
First performed on February 21, 2024, at the Brussels, Belgium stop of The Bewitched Tour, and “Goddess” would continue to be performed at her tour stops in Hamburg, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, Milan, Lausanne, Cologne, and Amsterdam.
Laufey announced the release of “Goddess” as a single on February 27, 2024, with twenty second snippets of the song uploaded on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok while concertgoers uploaded videos of her performing the song live.
“‘Goddess’ is my most honest song yet. I wrote it alone at my piano after feeling like someone had fallen in love with the version of me they’d seen on stage, just to find that I wasn’t what they projected once I was off stage.
