Lavalu is singer, pianist and composer. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and grew up in The Netherlands. Lavalu is playing the piano since she was 4 years old and was trained in classical music. She never had much interest in pop music until she heard Tori Amos, Björk and Radiohead. By then she was a late adolescent and find the inspiration to compose and write her own songs and lyrics.
Started as a singer/songwriter Lavalu won several awards and start playing with great musicians since 2005. Her voice fills the gap between Björk and Roisin Murphy. The personal lyrics and the way Lavalu conjures rhythm and harmony, together with the top quality playing of musicians, form an elixir of pop, jazz and trip-hop.
