Ah, fuckin' hell, you've got it right, mate. Houses of the Holy is like a goddamn breath of fresh air after the tight-ass grip of Zep IV, ain't it? Jimmy Page, that bastard, he's strumming out some lighter shit but still keeps it real with those bluesy fucks. And yeah, "D'Yer Mak'er" with its reggae ass vibe and "The Crunge" being a nod to the god James Brown, it's like they're just fuckin' around, but in the best damn way. Adds some spicy shit to the mix. "The Rain Song," fuck me, it's a masterpiece with those strings pulling at your heart, and "The Ocean," kicks you in the balls then kisses you goodnight, don't it? The album's like a rollercoaster, from the batshit energy of "The Song Remains the Same" to the darker corners with "No Quarter." It's a goddamn journey. What about you, man? You dig the way Page and Plant mix up their shit, or does it fuck with your head? What tracks off Houses of the Holy make you wanna trash the room and which ones make you wanna sit back and ligh

If I really had to pick a favorite Led Zeppelin album, Houses of the Holy would be it. Instead of simply creating Led Zeppelin V, the band expanded musically and added elements of funk, reggae and jazz to their songs. The album also just happens to have 3 of my top 5 Led Zeppelin songs on it, so it’s seems like an easy choice.

Очень спорный альбом. Здесь есть как одни из худших треков цеппелинов (The Song Remains the Same, Over the Hills and Far Away, Dancing Days), так и совершенно шедевральные (The Crunge, No Quarter)

Take out The Crunge and D'yer Mak'er and you would have one concise rock masterpiece.

Their best I feel. IV and II don't really hit me the same way. This art hits the spot too. What a mystical, diverse rock album.

Revisited this after years, still my favorite album by them, and Rain Song still remains my favorite song. The album has staying power.

For some reason a lot of people seem to give this one short shrift, which is baffling to me because when I listen to these songs I hear tremendous and obvious effort on the part of the band. The writing, the arrangements, the playing, the production -- everything about this album smacks of precision and meticulousness. Why people fawn over Physical Graffiti and II when this masterpiece is out there, I'll never know. "The Song Remains the Same," "The Rain Song," "Over the Hills and Far Away," "The Ocean" (THAT may be the best fucking riff Jimmy Page ever pulled off) and especially "No Quarter" are the work of gods, there's no other way to say it.

start to finish, probably their best. I refuse to believe that anyone could dislike Dancing Days.

I think this is their best (although I have never been overly keen on The Song Remains the Same)
