Oh, fuckin' Zeppelin, man. They just slammed that shit out on the road, didn't they? They didn't have time for any of that fancy-ass studio polishing; they just got in there and laid down some raw, balls-to-the-wall tracks. It's like they grabbed the blues by the balls and cranked that motherfucker up to eleven, you know? Those tracks, shit, they're so stripped down and straight-up, it's like getting punched in the face with a riff. "Whole Lotta Love" just comes at you like a goddamn freight train, no messing around. And those solos, they just let loose, like some wild, untamed beast, man. And sure, they had a couple of lighter moments, but let's be real, the heart of that album is all about the heavy, merciless rock. It doesn't fuck around with variety, but who the hell needs that when you've got that kind of power? It's influential as hell because it's pure, undiluted, and doesn't give a fuck. Every band that wanted to be heavy looked at II and said, "That's it. That's the shit."

You know what? I don't like this. Ramble On is good, Whole Lotta Love is good, rest is uninteresting.

Think this has to be my favourite Zeppelin album. Physical Graffiti would be a close enough second.

This one's my least favorite Zeppelin record, which says a lot about how awesome they were that I consider an album I wouldn't dream of calling less than great to be my least favorite of their works. The muddiness and more uniform sound of the songs is a big part of why I don't reach for this one as often as the others. I think the move toward the Engish Folk and Blues sound of III marked a huge improvement over this one. I, III and Houses of the Holy are my favorites. Still, "What is and What Should Never Be" is gorgeous, "Ramble On" is one of my favorite ass kickers from their discography and "Whole Lotta Love" deserves its hourly plays on Classic Rock radio stations everywhere.

Exactly my thoughts. It's a great album, but I can't find myself enjoying it more than I, III, PG, HotH or even IV. Has never fully clicked with me,

I concur, just about every song has a memorable bassline from Jonsey. I love the crunchy bass tone on "Heartbreaker", and the groovy bassline on "The Lemon Song."

The new Jimmy Page remaster is a HUGE improvement over the previous version I had - nineties version? - especially on Moby Dick. Whereas before I could barely hear the percussion during the bongo solo, I now hear it very clearly, and it's so great! Overall, the sound is so much clearer, and the full heaviness of the album has been restored. Thank you Jimmy, the remasters sound awesome!

Lo he tenido que escuchar varias veces (algo que no me pasó con su álbum debut del que me enamoré a la primera) para que entienda el peso que tiene y su grandeza. Me sigo quedando con 'Led Zeppelin', pero por nada...

Only a band as talented as Led Zeppelin could make an album this good in between live shows on the road.

The original vinyl (in particular, the "RL"/Robert Ludwig version) is legendary in audiophile circles. Next time you spot a used copy anywhere, check for "RL" in the deadwax. The sound on it is a beast. :D
