Each member of LZ shine on this track, but I think JPJ deserves special recognition for that dirty-sounding bassline, not to mention for writing the main riff.

Listening to the album that had No name. Eventually became Known as "Led Zeppelin IV" released on November 8, 1971. Changed the music world: In 2002, Spin magazine's Chuck Klosterman named it the second greatest metal album of all time and said that it was "the most famous hard-rock album ever recorded" as well as an album that unintentionally created metal—"the origin of everything that sounds, feels, or even tastes vaguely metallic". Song written by Jones, Page, Plant.

Loved it then, Love it now. Good friends, some blonde crumbly hash, cheap red wine, this album, the 70's were f**king awesome.

This is like poetry. The way you can listen to it even on a dirt-cheap system and still appreciate it as music. It is all in the timing and the riffing

With its unforgettable Jones-penned riff and inimitable energy, “Black Dog” is one of the band’s most well-known tracks. Alternating between a capella vocals and musical sections, the top 20 hit was the perfect fusion of Led Zeppelin’s hard rock and blues rock style. It also quickly made its way into the band’s concert set lists. -- watchmojo
