if you talk about loving psychedelics and then come to say you hate this song, you're a hypocrite. this song is amazing actually.

a little strange that Roy Harper is not more famous. you would think that having your name in a Led Zeppelin song title would do it.

They are playing tribute to an old blues guitarist - including "messed up vocal effects" like it or not - this is the sound they wanted and it is true to the feel they were going for.

One of my all time favorite led zeppelin tracks. Comments in this shout box just prove how opinions mean nothing.

i don't dislike it, but i just wish robert had done a straight rendition without the studio effects done on the vocals.

The weakest track on LZ III. Then again, it is Zep's only real outing into acoustic country blues, and for that reason alone I kinda have to like it.

Plant's voice has always sucked. You would think that this song would encourage people to check out Roy Harper, who is a fantastic musician, but I guess if you don't have any high charting hits, no one cares if you write fantastic music.

Roy Harper is a blues/folk musician and also a session musician, if my memory is correct. He also sang the lead vocals on the Pink Floyd song "Have a Cigar". I used to think it was Roger Waters singing that, but it was Harper. ...... The song we have here is a remake of an old song called "Shake 'Em On Down", Zep retitled "Hats Off To (Roy) Harper". The band was a fan of his and of the fact that he didn't sell out to commercial pressure. Judging by the reaction I see here, it's not 'popular enough'. While it's not my favorite, I still like it more than D'yer Mak'er, The Crunge and Hot Dog.

why people tag the songs with the obvious genre of the band at all, but don't tag with the correct genre of the specific song? It's auto-affirmation question? Like, THIS FUCKING GENRE, I'M INTO HARD ROCK EVERYTHING HARDROCK LOL LOL
