It's decent, but there's a strong argument to be made that it's definitely not the single greatest track they've done considering No Quarter, Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand, Since I've Been Loving You, and others. Very overhyped in my opinion.

Internet rule #27 subsection 3 paragraph 4 - when the subject is already exceedingly popular for reasons one cannot justify, one must interchange "under" with the prefix "over" Overrated song by an overrated band from an overrated decade

Had it not been for When The Levee Breaks at the end, the album would have probably not been as good as it is. Misty Mountain Hop, Four Sticks and Going to California are great songs on their own, but playing them right after you are blown away by Stairway to Heaven is not fair and makes for an underwhelming experience. Of course, then When The Levee Breaks comes along with its gargantuan tune to make amends.

By the time you are at Going to California, though, the rush of Stairway to Heaven has sufficiently faded and it's much easier to enjoy this great acoustic penultimate track.

fortunately misty mountain hop is on the other side of the LP so you can choose as a listener to take a break, sit down and digest this masterpiece in silence before flipping the record and continuing on... if you're listening on vinyl of course

Simply one of the best songs ever written. I can't even begin to imagine what it would have felt like to have crafted something like this. Yes it is perhaps overplayed but this is undoubtedly a masterpiece and that's why . The way it builds and builds until the ultimate climax is mesmerising. One of the few songs I really wish I had the ability to hear for the first time again.

I wish I could forget this song to relive the experience of listening to it for the first time.

Will simply never get old to me. The pastoral verses culminating in that electric guitar driven crescendo. It's so powerful, and I never tire of it the way I have with the likes of Hey Jude.

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I find it appropriate that a song titled "Stairway to Heaven" has the solemnity of a liturgical piece. A song for the ages...

As played at every school dance when I was much younger. Always a good time to pick the prettiest girl to dance with since it’s such long tune. Ahhh...memories

The whole song is majestic but something about the mark just a little before 6 minutes in and it's absolutely stunning how beautiful the guitar sounds
