Biography
Walk with me a minute through these old woods, won't you? Here, as twilight is cast & we stumble through the dense & fragrant undergrowth, a most bewitching phenomenon takes place. If you bend your ear upon the whispering breeze thus, you can hear it: the enchantments of The Legendary Creatures. They coalesce from the ether, one by one, as apparitions given solid, earthly form for but one night.
Here are Matt Luke & Sarah Vaughn first, intoning sweet, rich, melancholic melodies upon the evening fog with vocals as lyres of old, servants to some Sapphic sadness. Speaking of lyres, Jesse Ramsey appears next with his bevy of musical tools: mandolin, ukelele, guitars, et al. If it is stringed & can prove useful in a tune, it is undoubtedly under Jesse's sway. Now, child, do you hear that unearthly metronomic pounding? Be still, it is not your faltering heart, it is the primal yet nimble sound of Andrew Davis' drums. Ah, see there! It is accompanied by Nathan Burgundy's deftly melodic & spry bass guitar! The two dance & unfurl their rhythmic foundations as a red carpet upon which these Legendary Creatures compose their scene.
& what a scene it is! Such haunting melodies & serene sounds the world has not known for an age. Sweet, sincere, delicate yet robust: o what a treat!
Then as the sun's first rays peak above the horizon & snake through the trees, brushing the landscape with iridescent & glorious hues, the Legendary Creatures are gone leaving us wondering: was the music but a dream?
Is it all but a dream?
