Biography

Leisurama is an indie rock band hailing from East London, United Kingdom, that is a part of the vibrant London live scene. The band consists of Stu Anderson (vocals), Dan Jones (guitars), Wout (bass) and Anjay (drums).

Leisurama’s sound is characterized by the mix of fuzzy or jangly guitars over driving bass lines with strong, deep lead vocals and light airy backing vocals. They have been compared to The Stone Roses, The Kinks and The Wedding Present for their quintessentially English guitar sound and heartfelt lyrics.

The band formed in 2009 when Stu Anderson quit his last band The Monotremes and took their bass player Dan Jones, a childhood friend, with him to play guitar. Stu later added Jez Smith on guitar and Tom Allen on drums after advertising online for band members. The line-up was complete after several failed attempts at recruiting a bass player, Anderson replied to an advert by Lara Pattison who also added backing vocals. In the summer of 2010 Smith left the band to pursue a solo project, the band continued as a four-piece. Allen then left the band in September 2010 to go to university full time in Manchester. Leisurama continued to play live using a stand-in drummer for live performances. A month later Pattison also left the band to perform in a country & western band, but not before the band has recruited Wouter Smet to replace her on bass and Anjay Raj as a full time drummer.

The band released recorded two tracks Jonny Jonny and I.N.V.U. to give away free at live appearances and create interest online.

The Lou Lou Song, the first single from Leisurama was released on the 25th October 2010 on Day Job Records.

The band is playing live at various venues around London and the Home Counties.
