I don't want to be the one the battles always choose, cause inside, I realize that I'm the one confused.

My favorite from the album. It's actually the only LP song that I consider to be absolutely perfect. It aged quite tragically tho.

Flashback to memories of 12 y/o me of uploading a MP3 file downloaded onto Crazy Taxi PSP to fill the void for an Offspring-less soundtrack (that might just be the most pre-teen thing i've typed out-loud)

This song describes CPTSD experience. Sadly I doubt one decision and even painting it on the walls is enough to break the habit. And you're not at fault for having trauma, but you can heal.

An absolute touchstone in my development as a human being. Nothing hits like Breaking The Habit.

Sometimes when I'm in a bad place mentally, the passage "I don't know how I got this way, I'll never be alright" rings painfully true. But on those kind of days, I think many people have on blinders, as do I. By that I definitely don't want to speak for who who you are or what other people have been through. Just an observation. A lot of times things can get better. I mean who can really say 100% "I'm comfortable with who I am"? But thankfully the majority of the time, I can still feel "alright" to some extent and see the beautiful aspects of life.

At times I remember this song ultimately ends on a positive note about clarity and being able to share with others how we feel even in the midst of our pain and confusion. Over the years that became the takeaway for me from this song. That little part at the end that changed from the others.

Loved the music as a 13 years old. Been ashamed for a decade since. Identifying with every single word as a 24 years old.
