For those who don't know: Miki has just published a memoir, covering her upbringing and the Lush years. Everyone whose ever appreciated Lush must read this book; it's revelatory. You learn A LOT about how the albums came together, and the details of Miki's life give their lyrics (at least, those written by Miki) far more context. I don't know if it's available in the US or will be; I just imported a dead tree copy from a UK bookseller. Lush was already one of my all time favorites, but Jesus, I get them so much more now. One thing that does become obvious: you see why Lush's days were numbered, even if Chris hadn't met his tragic fate. It's more of a minor miracle that they survived as long as they did, well into the Britpop era even as all their shoegaze contemporaries had long since fallen away. I'm grateful we had the reunion tour and EP, and that Miki is playing with Piroshka now, but based on what she and the band went through, it's amazing we have that much.

I'm happy I picked up a signed copy at Rough Trade in London and am reading the book at the moment. Starting to listen to Lush again. I was mainly familiar with their later Britpop style music but will definitely check out their older songs too.

Yes, indeed! I plugged the ISBN into the American Amazon page, and got this: https://www.amazon.com/FINGERS-CROSSED/dp/1788705556 . It seems a paperback version exists? Either way, it seems that for now, those of us who aren't Brits still have pay extra for it to be imported. An ebook version exists on the British Amazon page, but I don't know if that's available to non-British folks. The UK bookseller I went through... I'd have to find it... was able to get me an autographed copy, and it was cheaper than what Amazon is charging. I think it was something like $25 for an autographed hardcover, and another $15 for international shipping to the US.

I think what makes her special is that she's not just a pretty face. (Though she is that too!) It's her attitude. Here is someone who suffers no fools, who gives as good as she gets, and puts wankers in their place. Not because she's mean or rude or anything. She's just brutally honest, stands up for herself, and has a sense of humor. If we have a daughter, "Miki" could be a great candidate for a name.

I love the music this band created they always had albums with difference from the last whether it was Britpop, Love songs, shoegaze or their melancholy songs on split I think this band was somehow relevant to its time and so ahead I love this band and I am so gutted I wasn't around for the Album drops or the final tour I found this band too late

Now that it seems Miki's moved on to Peroshka as her full-time project, and the Lush reunion is completely a thing of the past, I do have one hope: a live album. I don't know how much interest there is for that among Lush members, but there really should be one. Most of the bootlegs I've heard are of very iffy quality, but wouldn't it be awesome if we could have, say, a definitive, professional live album from their 90s heyday, and one from the reunion tour?
