“Polo Jeans” features a verse by Earl Sweatshirt, who also produced the track using his beatmaker alias RandomBlackDude.
Mac and Earl are criticizing how critics perceive their music and how ruthless these critics are in their reviews. Mac and Earl are human beings, but because they’re rappers, critics feel that they can belittle and humiliate them like they’re some subspecies of human, just like the kids terrorizing the “rabbit” in Gummo. Mac and Earl chose this sample because of their empathy with the rabbit in this scene.
