All the individual tracks are quite good imo (and, wow, that opener is a showstopper). However, quite a few of the middle ones are on the slower and denser side, which can make the album as a whole feel staggered, even impenetrable, at times. It feels longer than its runtime, somehow, but I still enjoy it a lot!

I've been a Madder Mortem fan for a long while, and I love the last three albums--Deadlands, Desiderata, and Eight Ways. I'm not as in love with this album for some reason. I still think it's a good, solid album, it just doesn't have the same punch to it as past releases. Anyone else feel the same? Agnete's vocals are still awesome, and there's still memorable riffage, but it seems like there is less variety and there are fewer intense, aggressive moments. I'm not sure if this is MM mellowing out or just wanting to go a different direction with this album. Regardless, hopefully there's not as long of a wait until the next release!

Yep, I agree. When it starts, you feel like it needs some time to speed up, and when Fallow Season breaks in, you feel 'yeah, that's it, go on', but it turns out that song's the peak of the album and the rest of it is just... mediocre. Not bad, not at all, but it doesn't reach the emotional extremes some of their past records did.
