Biography
Madeleine Mitchell is widely regarded as one of Britain's finest violinists and most creative musicians. She has an eclectic discography ranging from pieces written for her by many of the UK's best known composers - Nyman, MacMillan etc to short popular early 20C romantic pieces, lots of British music and an album 'FiddleSticks' with percussionists Ensemble Bash, nominated for Grammy, Midem and BBC Music Awards. There's an early album with Joanna MacGregor of Messiaen too. She plays all over the world, was Fulbright/ITT Fellow to New York in the 1980s and also teaches at the Royal College of Music, London. She founded her international Red Violin festival under Lord Menhin's patronage, bringing together all sorts of fiddle music, jazz, folk, classical, pictures, film, exhibitions.
