i cannot believe they removed "nobody loved you" from the rerelease of this. what on earth were they thinking? the album's entire back half depends on that last moment of catharsis. "prologue to history" is a fine b-side but it doesn't achieve the same thing.

Maybe not their best album, but the one I remember the most fondly. And it is flippin' great, to be honest.

Acquiescence
This shouldn't be their most listened to album on Last.fm, it's a career low, along with Know Your Enemy.

This album took me a little while to get into. First listen, way back when it was released it left me with an 'it's definitely good, but..' feeling. It wasn't what i was expecting from them but that's not necessarily a negative thing. Actually, i listened to it for the first time in at least 3 or 4 years the other week that was the best listen I've ever gotten from this album. In it's own it is just astonishing.

In a way a lot of the song are about a lack of passion of emotion, I read a good quote where someone said that this album is Nicky's in the way that THB is Richey's

So, in a few words, I'd say it lacks energy, not passion. Two different things.

I don't tink it lacks passion. Well, yes it does but what I mean is that it reflects perfectly how depressed, hopeless, and lost they felt without Richey. The emotion is all there, pure and painful. It's just not the kind of emotion one likes to hear.

Thing about this album is that is is just too fucking bland! Some of the songs are ok but they just sound like they dont give a fuck! I think its worth comparing this album to Oasis' Be Here Now. Not exactly a bad album as such but just doesnt have the depth or urgency of other albums such as Holy Bible, Everything Must Go, Generation Terrorists.
