Markéta Irglová (born in Valašské Meziříčí, Czech Republic, on 28 February 1988) is a Czech-Icelandic musician, songwriter and actress. She starred in the film "Once", which earned her a number of major awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly", with co-writer and co-star Glen Hansard. Since 2006, she has recorded with Hansard as The Swell Season.

Irglová began playing the piano at the age of seven and the guitar at nine, when she started learning songs by ear. She has relocated several times for professional and personal reasons, from Prague, to Dublin, to New York and, since 2011, she permanently moved to Reykjavík, Iceland.

She met Glen Hansard of the band The Frames when he was visiting Prague, and started a personal relationship and a musical collaboration. They released an album, The Swell Season on Overcoat Recordings in (2006). In 2007, both starred in the Irish film Once. This won the World Cinema Audience Award for a dramatic film at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, and an Oscar for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture, "Falling Slowly", composed by them. They performed live at the Kodak Theatre, Los Angeles. The couple split on friendly terms.

After leaving New York for Reykjavík, she wrote and released the albums: Anar (2011) and Muna (2014) under the international label ANTI-.

In 2022, after an eight-year long hiatus, she released LILA.
