Biography
The trio Stockhausen/Andersen/Héral is an exciting new German/Norwegian/French improvising unit. On their debut ECM disc (Karta, 1999) they're joined by guitar innovator Terje Rypdal for fiery interactive playing and spacious soundscape explorations. The group's repertoire takes off from compositions by Markus Stockhausen and Arild Andersen - both players with a long history at ECM - but there's plenty of intuitive group improvising too, incorporating colours and textures from jazz and rock traditions and from the worlds of electronic and ambient music.
Markus Stockhausen: trumpet, piccolo trumpet, flugelhorn
Terje Rypdal: electric guitar
Arild Andersen: double-bass
Patrice Héral: drums, percussion, live electronics
