Every track here could be a successful single. You can say whatever you want about what they've become (a terrible "band", which is just the Adam Levine Experience), but this is a timeless record. Excellent performances all-around, great grooves, infectious melodies, and it gets pretty heavy when it wants to. Name a better MAINSTREAM RADIO pop rock album released since then? The kind of mainstream that anyone from your grandma to the mafia and gang bosses has heard. You can't. (No, After Laughter isn't better, neither is Talking is Hard)

Maybe Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon but not many people listen beyond the title track of that album

I didn't know shoutbox replies created notifications :P And that's a great album, but it predates Songs About Jane by a couple years though. While the title track was popular enough, it wasn't an inescapable one. It was more focused on rock radio. Maroon 5 was banking rock, pop and adult contemporary radio, and they did it with 4 songs: This Love, Harder to Breathe, She Will Be Loved and Sunday Morning. On top of being everywhere on MTV, movies, etc. My point was that no album that had such a wide reach has been this stellar :)

You're forgetting their second album, most of Hands All Over, and the Kara's Flowers stuff.

An amazing album. Unfortunately, the rest of their career output falls far short of this.

Or even better, actually evolve for the better and just make good music consistently

They got too much auto-tuned. This is back when they make great music and not generic radio music.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't get why people think this is their best album. I feel like some songs are too boring, but I guess that's me. The singles are definitely amazing here though (and some other songs).

I'm 18 too actually! And I totally understand, everyone has different opinions, but I definitely wish V was more generally liked by fans :/ oh well

I for myself liked V for what it is, it was definitely an improvement to Overexposed, the biggest complaint for me was the overproduction and pitching of his voice, making the album unnatural and somehow forced, even on many tracks it felt itself More like an Adam Levine solo project than a band effort.

They say its the best because their song craft in general is by far more complex on this record and the instrumentals are more organic, most of their post Hands all over stuff is just formularic Pop with some basic drum beats and guitar riffs sprinkeld in.

The only album by Maroon 5 that's actually really good. Sure a couple of their later songs are ok (progressively less so the more time goes on) but every single one from Songs About Jane will top them every time.

I miss this Maroon 5 so much, their music nowadays feels so cheap. It comes as no surprise that this album was sold in more than 5 million copies only in USA, and 10 million worldwide. Their second one, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" was not all that bad, but it really went all downhill from there. For comparison, if you put together all the sales from the last three albums, you still can't come close to ''Songs About Jane''. Maroon 5 used to have sense. :/
