Biography

"Nashville native Megan Barker loves the creative process of writing songs. Her unique sound was highly influenced at a young age by talents such as Rob Thomas, Michelle Branch, and Jason Mraz. Not only does she aspire to be a great songwriter, she has found guitar mentors such as, John Mayer and Keith Urban to add flavor to her style. She has a unique blend of sounds which captivate her audience with use inspired melodies and perceptive lyrics. After moving to Las Vegas at the tender age of 9, music did not become her focus until age 13. After playing high school talent shows for four years, she decided it was time to branch out. She began playing open mics all over the Las Vegas area. Developing networking skills while honing her craft, she found herself headlining at larger venues. Finding opportunities such as First Friday and Funtown Fright Fest, she is learning professionalism first hand. In January 2010, she recorded her first 5 song demo and video-documented the process. With the internet success of her recordings and videos, she landed an interview spot on the Jefferson Montoya show on XRADIO.biz. Her ever-expanding fan base is helping her efforts within the music business community. To quote a recent local music review of her work, John Frank had this to say, "Next up is a young, but rising acoustic-original starlet to be, Megan Barker. She is the triple threat of success. Her youthful, honest, sincere lyrics are current and to the point. Her voice is controlled, melodic, and unique enough to be recognized as Megan and Megan alone. Her guitar playing is way ahead of her age. Her picking style is advanced, intricate and right on. Her songs are just great! To hear her is to know that the fake and glitz of pop singers today isn't all we have to look forward to."
