Biography
Megan Melara is a folk artist from Austin, Texas. Her latest release is a series of small victories, a heartfelt album of new-wave folk with a touch of rock.
Born August 22, 1980 in Dallas, Texas, Megan Melara’s love for music came early. By the time she could walk she was picking out tunes by ear on the piano, and she started singing in school and church choirs as soon as she could. As early as 2nd grade, teachers took notice of her natural talent and encouraged her to keep with it. Megan stayed in choir all the way through her freshman year of college at Trinity University in San Antonio.
Megan moved to Austin in 1999, where she was finally able to focus on her desire to make singing her life. She picked up the guitar she’d gotten as a Christmas present a few years back, and began the journey of learning the instrument, finding her voice, and writing songs.
Megan writes insightful, powerfully delivered songs about her experiences- real and imagined, the experiences of others, and the serendipitous nature and universality of everything under the sun.
