All in all I think this has their best sound on it. Massive guitar tone, incredible drumming as usual, and King Buzzo's voice at it's peak. They can't top the two headed monster of this and Ozma.

ColonyofMetal
An utter monolithic stream of constant 'A' grade sludge, with beautiful mud-like overflows of drone, doom and punk.

As others have said, this is a very important album in the development of heavy music. Sludge and doom metal took an obvious inspiration from this and other early Melvins records, and also "grunge" was born here. As much sludge and doom as I've listened to over the years (lots) and as many Melvins albums as I've bought and listened to (all of them, now that I think about it), this one has never lost its power. "Eye Flys" sounds like it came from a different planet than nearly all other music being made in 1986 and the rest of the album is just as weird and unique. This is a must have for anyone interested in getting into the Melvins or heavy music in general.

This album better go in the history books. I mean, it obviously influenced sludge and grunge, but if you consider the fact the literally every punk/metal fusion was made possible by this album... this and Napalm Death's Scum reinvented metal in so many ways.
