Wow, they completely went off my radar for some reason. Weren't even in my library anymore. They sound really cool and unique. Their latest album is really good. Bit disappointing in playlength though.

Memmaker played Resistanz 2012. ATCB were there to judge them. This is the result. http://ayeteeceebee.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/gig-review-resistanz-festival-2012-well.html

I'm withholding judgment until I see them live at ElectriXmas in two weeks, but there's definite potential.

First off, Memmaker is awesome! I've loved Guillaume's music ideas since I heard some of his early demo tracks in the early 2000's. Secondly, Memmaker is best described as a rhythmic noise / electro / or industrial act (meaning noise with electro elements in an industrial vein) rather than "electro-industrial". [tag]Electro-Industrial[/tag] has a TOTALLY different connotation. It refers to early post-industrial music that came after Throbbing Gristle or SPK (or true [tag]Industrial[/tag]) but doesn't incorporate electric guitars and drums like [tag]Industrial Rock[/tag] (Ministry, KMFDM) but rather utilizes almost entirely electronic instruments and drum machines. Examples would include Skinny Puppy, early Front Line Assembly, Mentallo & The Fixer and X-Marks the Pedwalk. Memmaker bears little to no resemblance to these bands or their sound.

TBH I find this frustrating, none of it is overtly bad and some of it (Prophecy, Insomnia and Ascent) is teetering on genius, hovering somewhere between deeply atmospheric and danceable... yet at the same time it tries so hard to be both it ends up just being one or the other, or worse, neither...
