"A Dangerous Meeting" by Mercyful Fate is a cautionary tale about the dangers of dabbling in the occult. The song describes a group of people who come together for a seance or spiritual meeting. They hope to make contact with a spirit, perhaps out of boredom or curiosity. However, as the night wears on, the mood becomes increasingly ominous. The lyrics suggest that the group members may not know what they're doing, and may be in over their heads.
The chorus, "Time is standing still, it's a dangerous meeting, they're gonna get themselves killed" emphasizes the perilous and potentially fatal nature of this gathering. Despite this warning, the group persists in trying to make contact with the spirit.
By the end of the song, it is clear that something has gone terribly wrong. The circle is described as "broken forever" and "seven people dead within a trance". The lyrics suggest that the group members have not only lost their lives, but also their souls: "Tonight, seven souls are reaching hell".
