Biography
Michael Levasseur is a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist born in Brooklyn, New York, raised in a tiny town in South Carolina, and currently living in Portland, Oregon. He has put out 4 albums and played countless shows under the name Michael the Blind.
Michael the Blind's most recent album, "Are's & Els" was released June 5, 2012 to critical praise from sources far and wide such as the Onion A.V. Club, PopMatters, Exclaim, M Magazine, The Portland Mercury, Willamette Week and many others. The video singles have been featured on prominent music blogs like My Old Kentucky, and American Songwriter Magazine.
In 2013, along with his wife and good friends, Levasseur put together a backup band called The Moonshine. Together they play whip-smart folk songs for a fast-paced world with breathtaking rhythmic interplay and vocal harmonies.
