Biography

Michele Karmin is an alternative singer-songwriter and self taught pianist from the greater Philadelphia region. She began teaching herself piano in 2009 after releasing multiple cross-genre projects and in 2012 debuted "Let Me Introduce Myself …Again". This effort of re-discovery proved to be the missing piece of her evolving artistry as it catapulted her to a new height as an established musician while redefining herself as an artist, songwriter and music producer. Michele's noteworthy cover reinventions and original songs have established her as a distinguished musical artist from New York to Los Angeles area. During her live shows she performs while playing both the piano and the kick drum.

Let Me Introduce Myself…Again, showcases Karmin’s signature emotional vocals and insightful lyrics, but she branches out sonically too, incorporating the increased use of the piano in her songs, as well as flourishes from the electronic world. Her piano-ballad-meets-electronica cover of Collective Soul’s “Heavy,” for instance, features Tori Amos like vocals with the musical tone of a Portishead song. And original numbers like “Six Years” and the title track are piano-centric with hints of ethereal, ambient noise and orchestration added in, respectively, while simultaneously being infused with Karmin’s soulful vocals. Whether focusing on her relationship with a lover, a friend, God, or the world in general, Karmin’s music reflects a deep-seated interest in authenticity and the search for truth. Karmin says that fans can expect more of this from her forthcoming album. “The Realest Part of You" is about nakedness in a sense,” Karmin says. “The good, the bad, the ugly, everything. It’s the heart, it’s the sin, the guilt. It’s just very human."

Michele has performed and made appearances on NBC's The 10! Show, MTV, Philadelphia's Radio 104.5FM, Sirius XM, Fox News, 93.3 WMMR, 610WIP, iRadio Philly as well as college radio. In 2010 Michele teamed up with DJ Tom Colontonio and wrote "Colors of Tear" which was released on the European trance label Spinnin' Records. The single reached the top 100 of the trance charts in the first week and was promoted by Armin Van Burrenn in his State of Trance and Judge Jules BBC radio. In 2013 Michele was selected as the Director's Highlight, Featured Artist for the Philadelphia RAW Artist Awards show.

In addition the the music, Michele has also worked as a model and actress appearing in national commercials and print ads. She has been recognized for her 2007 feature in the Adam Sandler movie "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" playing Larry's neighbor working in the garden.
