Mikkey Halsted is a rapper from Chicago. Coming up around the same time as Kanye West, he got signed to Cash Money Records, but was neglected in favour of other artists. He was notable as a guest on songs by Lil' Wayne and Rhymefest. Now, in 2008. he has released his mixtape "Uncrowned King" and the critically acclaimed single "Liquour Store".
Hailing from the notorious “Wild 100″ section of Chicago’s Southside, Mikkey Halsted AKA “Money Making Mikk” is finally poised to make his mark and carve out his place amongst Hip-Hop’s elite.
Discovered by Kanye West, Mikkey has worked closely with Lil’ Wayne & Cash Money Records and also had brief stint with Virgin Records through music mogul Jermaine Dupri.
Through it all, Mikkey‘s talent has never been up for debate. He has recently been tapped by ground-breaking Chicago producers No ID and The Legendary Traxster who have already begun giving Mikkey the proper backdrop to bring his noteworthy talent to the surface and help make him a serious contender in Hip-Hop’s current landscape.
No ID has garnered multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning success and has helped steer the careers of superstars Kanye West and Common. No ID is currently serving as the Senior Executive Vice-President of A&R at Def Jam Records and is one of the hottest young executives in the music industry. The Legendary Traxster is a Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer who has crafted hits for the likes of Twista, Mariah Carey, Ludacris, Big Sean and others. With this kind of firepower backing such a talented emcee, one can understand why Halsted is one of the most anticipated artists in recent memory
