Total difference from Psalm 69 and all previous Ministry albums, i like that from Al, because he is good and opened to many musical styles, i must say that this is not one of my favorite from him, i am not big fan of Sludgey sounds but there are some good songs, it is very dark album and you can feel from music Al drug addiction.

Reading how much hate Filth Pig and Dark Side of the Spoon got when they were released is ridiculous. It just fills me up with rage. I mean how deaf you have to be not to hear how good these two records are? This may be the best and the most creative stuff Ministry has ever released.

Understand one thing. Acquired taste. We are now wiser because of the time perspective, but back then, the industrial sound popularised by Ministry and NIN, was still fresh. Especially in the plebeian ears who craved more of that and when they got something completely new their reaction was similar to yours now - emotional. Plebs simply can not keep up with the creative artist. Why you even pay attention to those people who might have changed their mind already? Past exists only in our brains. I guess rage is a defensive reaction against aggressive meme. Yep, those things are viruses of the mind.

The fact that this was released after Psalm 69 affected the reception too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filth_Pig#Background

Heavy as hell and very dark. This one got a mixed reception when it came out but people have started to come around and realize what a masterpiece of sludgy Industrial Metal misanthropy it is. So many killer tracks here, with the opening "Reload," the brutal title song and "The Fall" being my favorites.

Underrated as hell. Heavy, pissed off and mean. "Reload" in particular kicks the absolute shit out of you, "The Fall" is a dark monster groove and the title track is heavy as hell. Great stuff.

I don't understand why isn't this universally regarded as a classic? I find many Godflesh influences here, something I did not detect before. Psalm 69 is thrashy, but this is sludgy and doomish. Interesting. ANd the songs are very inspired

First, I listen to this on an old re-recorded MC without a last track. I found a cassette in my uncles' closet who was a DJ. This was one of my first, true, primal experience that change my music course of life. When this was happen I have about 17 years old and I even do not known what I have listening. Cassette do not have description... ;) I finally knew a band name when a girl, I actually interested in, make me available she music collection :D Now I have my own copy of a "Filth Pig" CD and I adore this same as years ago. Only the CD's frequencies are not good as MC's for such a filthy sounds as "Filth Pig" consist. I still missing my old, rusty and use up cassette... Heavy, claustrophobic atmosphere, harsh, rusted sound and that Industrial madness floating upon slow riffs... ehhh, memories ;P
