Pictures at an Exhibition has been written by Modest Mussorgsky for piano. It is a monumental homage of his friend Viktor Hartman and his art, inspired by Hartman’s posthumous exhibition.

The piano suite was later orchestrated by Maurice Ravel. The orchestrated version became more famous but there are a lot of values in the original version that are faded in the orchestral version.
