Something new has arrived!
Electro-Rock and comics. … It’s not about trying to re-invent the wheel … just have a different spin. The place where many styles meet, that's where you'll find MONILLA.
The music
In late February of 2008 Beate, Mike, Danny, Phil and Zechi met up for a small jam session. Little did they know that this would be the beginning of a different story.
“We always wanted to do something different from what everybody of us did in the past” Phil remembers. “As we started jamming we instantly noticed this chemistry between us. It just worked out great! “
We want to see music for what it is. A universal language that everybody understands! It shouldn’t have any boundaries, any limitations anything that keeps it from evolving. Music should be free!
The music is as colourful as the band. Hailing from all over the world like Poland, Austria, Namibia and the USA we got together in Vienna, Austria the city of music. Monilla is like one big family. We work hard, we party hard and we look after each other!
After about a week of gathering ideas and thoughts we had this vision of creating our anthology.
“We came up with this story of a world that resembles ours with characters of good, evil and a little bit of both” Mike recalls.
All the bulls*** that’s happened in the past, right now or in the future gets thrown in this story and is dealt with. The story reveals itself in form of a comic and each episode is the foundation for the songs we write. So the music is like a soundtrack to the comic or the comic is like a visual manifestation of the songs. Whatever way you look at it…
We want the people out there to see what we see and feel what we feel and still leave them enough room to interpret the songs and comics in their own way.
March 2008 we went into the studio and started writing and recording the first tracks. Within a couple of weeks we had enough material for our first recording. We were presented the opportunity to play at the Wukstock Festival and figured that this was a great idea to test drive our baby. Well it was one hell of a ride. We packed the place and got such a tremendous response that after we got off stage we looked at each other and said…wow this works great! Let’s do this! The crowd loved it and so did we.
Recording our debut album was a great experience and we took all the time in the world to do it right. So on November 22nd “Hello World : Chapter 1” was revealed to the public and will be released worldwide in early 2009.
The Story
The story is set in a world where civilisation has reached its peak. But mankind no longer lived in harmony. Brother killing brother for the profit of another. Corruption was everywhere. In this dark hour the world council was presented a master plan by Sir System Admin to restore peace and prosperity. Little did they now that this was the beginning of the end.
The creation of Hybrids seemed to be the answer for all problems as they were immune against corruption. Their artificially altered genetic strain made sure of 2 things…. Strain 1 – Hybrids are obedient to their human masters. Strain 2 – Hybrids cannot harm a human.
Only few political leaders and industrialists trusted by the world council were entitled to control the hybrids. Peace and Order were restored. Corruption was at an end. The Hybrids were living among the humans in harmony and were fulfilling functions where mankind used to fail. Everything was good… for the moment.
On a rainy morning newspapers were filled with the terrible headline… “Code broken - Human Corruption is back! Chaos ! As of yesterday night 23:58 the Hybrid genetic code that prevented Hybrids from harming humans was broken by an unknown villain mastermind!”
People protested against the world council that failed to protect them from themselves. The mob screamed for order and safety. The world council seemed helpless.
Then Sir System Admin lured mankind with the promise of peace and order. As being one of the first 3 original hybrids with their own independent strain and his own master only he has the power to control the genetic codes within all hybrids and put an end to human corruption and chaos. The desperate people cheered for him and it was no surprise that he was elected as supreme chancellor governing the entire world. Little did they know of his dark intentions…
This is where “Hello World : Chapter 1” starts to unfold. Containing 9 tracks that are part of the first chapter of the story it resembles a unique blend of both music and comic.
The characters
Sir System Admin – Once a strategic consultant to the world council he is a mixture between a human and a Tarsier. In their darkest hour he promised mankind peace and security through order. He seeks to control information in order to maintain his security.
Lucy – Like Sir Admin she was one of the first hybrids created. As being part human and part phoenix she cannot die but only has a limited amount of time before her circle of life starts all over again. Her vision is to free information for everybody.
Agent Frank Ferret – The 1st of the 3 independent hybrids ever created. Not everything turned out the way it should have and so the half ferret, half human has trouble seeing the world as it is. He used to be Sir Admin’s right hand in all his affairs, then later notices that there is something wrong with the world today and becomes an outlaw.
