I've recently discovered the What Else Is There? cover (great one, by the way), which has brought me back into the Mortemia orbit. I gave Misere Mortem another spin after over ten years, and I honestly don't get why I just listened to it once and then completely forgot about it back then: that's one solid album! My bad for snubbing it. I'm looking forward to getting reacquainted with it before moving on to the more recent stuff and see how it holds up against recent Sirenia.

Would've liked to see it stay as just the harsh vocals in the new stuff in stead of putting the female vocals back in and basically turning it into "other sirenia".

I'm liking the two new latest singles. Sounds like old school Sirenia than current Sirenia. Though I wonder... is Morten looking for new female vocalists secretly?

In March 2012, Morten said he is writing a new album for Mortemia, as well as Sirenia. Sirenia's album will be out soon. But what about Mortemia's? Is he still doing it, or has he abandoned this project?

I still like Mortemia. It's just Sirenia without the female vocals. I mean I love both but it's really nice. It reminds me of NDAAD without Monika (which is my fav Sirenia album). I really hope he makes another album but the new Sirenia album was good so no loss either way really!

Strange, I seem to be on the wrong page. I thought I clicked on "mortemia", not "sirenia", "tristania" or "click here to bitch about a dude".

Forgettable. Looks like Morten Veland got tired of making good music to start creating this laughable crap, how could someone say this is better than Tristania? Are you fucking kidding me??

The old Tristania albums haven't magically disappeared from the world, you can still listen to them & Vibeke as much as you like but that doesn't change the fact that many of us would like to see a new Mortemia album. Although I admit it would be cool if Veland got Vibeke to do some guest vocals on it. Though then it might just be too similar to Sirenia...

It's 2012, ino it's sad to think, but we will never get an album anywhere near the scale of BTV again.

v Because Misere Mortem and The 13th Floor were both very listenable. EoL on the other hand... I do wish he would have made it more like BTV like he said he would =/

It's just gonna be a recycled version of Misere Mortem, T13F & EOL. Why on earth would you anticipate that?

I don't know nearly any latin, just some random phrases, but I thought I heard some actual phrases in some songs. The only one I can think of right now is The New Desire, the chorus sounds like Miserere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miserere_(Allegri)#Original ). But I believe you're right, I just always thought they were simply old latin sayings and poems that Veland found somewhere.

maybe someone who know italian can understand something from latin lyrics cuz latin is the old form of italian, someone i remember can understand what choir sings in Tristania's old songs <- Actually, I'm Italian and I've studied latin for 8 years. What they sing is not real latin anymore. As a proof, it's not even written as lyrics in the booklet, as it was for Tristania. I forced myself a lot to understand, and it seems like some words are re-costruction of the english chorus... others just doesn't exist. It's a whole of words putted together to give the idea of latin and, in the same time, to remain mixed up with the english lyrics sound.

He wont tell anyone where he is getting the latin lyrics from. Ailyn asked him before, he wouldn't say anything. Very strange.
