Last year, I was looking for Christmas gifts for my family and sifted through a tiny second hand record store in Edinburgh. Selection wasn't big — although they had some nice albums here and there — when suddenly a copy of Wind's Poem popped into my eye. I'd heard the album — even enjoyed Phil perform two tracks from it before — but had never seen the LP in person. Golden letters shining upon the gloomy artwork, the moody collage comprised of mountains, woods and a self-portrait on the inside, it was beautiful. At the bottom of the gatefold's inside, a girl had written personal birthday wishes dedicated to her (ex?) lover. I accepted the imperfection. It felt real and my brother surely wouldn't care. "This is definitely the only Mount Eerie we'll ever have — and we had it for one day", the nerdy guy at the desk mumbled as I handed him the money. He didn't make eye contact.

"I think it's silly how everyone keeps talking about black metal" Considering the main influence for this album was Phil's interest in the genre, I wouldn't say it's silly at all, especially considering how much parts of this sound like a Burzum album.

I think it's silly how everyone keeps talking about black metal, BUT this album does make real good Halloween music
