Seriously, how did these guys manage to pull of their industrial BM sound in 1996 and not get a ton of hate from the scene that time.

Euronymous actually liked them at the first listen, and it's important that every Norwegian bm band had its own sound and artistic approach in the '90's, and all of them took inspiration from a different kinds of music. all that imagery with Darkthrone-worshipping, b/w aesthetics and other cliché stuff, is more like a superficial interpretation of the Norwegian bm from the '00's, and if the scene really was something like that, bands like Ved Buens Ende, Fleurety, Mysticum, Arcturus, Inflabitan, Ildjarn-Nidhogg, many others - all of them just wouldn't exist. even the first '92 generation of Norwegian bm efforts - Burzum's s/t, 'Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism', 'A Blaze...', 'Bloodlust And Perversion', 'Yggdrasill' - they all had a huge differences from each other, and, nevertheless, they all had a sense of authenticity. the same is for Mysticum

All the Norwegian scene liked electronic music. Euronymous used to jam Kraftwerk and others all the time. Varg used to go to electronic clubs and one of his all time favorite bands was Das Ich. There are a lot of industrial black metal bands that have had well-known musicians in them, as well. Hellhammer of Mayhem plays in the band Kovenant. Faust of Emperor has played with Aborym, and Zyklon. Snorre of Thorns, who was with Varg when he killed Euronymous makes mostly industrial / ambient stuff now.

there also was a Norwegian industrial band Famlende Forsøk which was also strongly respected in bm scene, and the use of Kittelsen's paintings was inspired by the album "Black Death" of industrial/experimental act When (Lars Pedersen). I don't even understand why people think so often that early Norwegian scene had some kind of a cult of the black metal purity and had an underground attitude, when things were in fact completely opposite

Really don't like the new cover of "In The Streams" way too photoshopped and tacky, first cover is really iconic and stands out.
