NastyFunker ( a.k.a Mike Elliott ) fell in love with dance music in the mid 90s when he got into the rave scene. After a couple of years of rockin to the like of Carl Cox and Slipmatt he decided to go to Cream in Liverpool as there was a spare seat on the bus. This was when he first realised House music was where it was at, withing a few months he had his first set of decks and He's never looked back since.
It was a couple of years before Lee Kennedy asked him to DJ with at the Carlisle Student Union Bar and he stept out the bedroom into the Dj booth. It wasnt the busiest night in the world but he got a real buzz and he needed more. he played at a few bars on the circuit but the clubs were where he wanted to be.
The house music scene was pretty good at the time and there was a couple of quality nights already running in the area but he knew we could get in on the act, so thats what he did. Six months later he launched his own night with Lee kennedy. Crush started off upstairs at the Front Page but things went so they took over the whole club within a few months, and over the next couple of years he played alangside the likes of K-Klass, Jazzy M ( Ministry of Sound), Paul Taylor ( Retro / Tall Trees ), Adrian Luvdup ( Eden / Miss Moneypennies ) Mark Armstrong ( Shindig ) Peter james ( Perfect ) and Ki Creighton ( Uber ). Unfortuantly due to personal reasons they pulled the plug on Crush in 2005.
Having taken a couple of years of to recharge the battries ( after years of abuse) , moved to London and settled down he feels the time is right to get back into things. He wants to be the one making the tunes now not just the one playing them so he's set up a small studio and he's currently working on his first album. There are also plans in the pipeline to launch a new clubnight in the summer, If all goes well 2009 could be a big year!
