Biography
Navy Skies is an indie rock band from Toronto, Ontario. Originally forming in 2012 under the name Rebel Rebel. The lineup consists of Travis Caine (vocals and guitar), Kara Gauthier (keys), Bryan Wyshnicki (guitar), Paul Cope (drums), and Gary Hazelton (bass).
Their music has been described as "aggressive indie rock" with the band embracing elements of punk, alternative, and classic rock. Notable influences include Hot Water Music, The Constantines, The Get Up Kids, and The Weakerthans.
On February 24, 2013, the band changed their name to Navy Skies and released a 7" to coincide with the announcement. The recording was produced by Peter van Helvoort of the band Teenage Kicks and featured two tracks (A-side: "Cut My Teeth," B-side: "Ontario Winds"). Later that year, the band began recording their debut EP.
The New War EP's title track, "New War," was released as the albums first single on March 10, 2014.
